CALLING ALL ACREAGE VOTERS!!
Hello Acreage residents. My name is Richard Vassalotti and I am running for Indian Trail
Improvement District Seat 2.
I am a born and raised West Palm Beach native of 54 years and have lived in the Acreage for
almost 30 years. I was one of those kids who was either playing sports or riding my bike with a small tackle box and fishing pole to wherever I could cast a line. My main goal in life, since a young child, was to be a firefighter. I am now a retired Captain from Palm Beach County Fire Rescue. I had 30 years of service and over 15 of those years directly serving the wonderful residents of the Acreage. Many times during my career I had the opportunity to interact with many of our residents. Some on their best days but too many on the worst day of their lives. Many of you I hold close to my heart and think of you often.
Other services that I have provided to our community include serving 7 years on the SAC’s (Student Advisory Committees) at Acreage Pines Elementary School and Western Pines Middle
School. This coming school year I plan on being a part of the Seminole Ridge High School SAC. Countless times I’ve been involved with helping set up school functions, participating in career day, teaching first aid to the kids at the medical lab with the choice program amongst other things when needed. Many of the kids know me as Mr. Firefighter, Axl and Brooklyn’s dad or Coach Rich.
I’m a huge advocate for youth sports with 9 years of volunteering, coaching rec baseball. I served 3 years on the Palm Beach Transportation Planning Agency’s Citizens Advisory Committee fighting for the completion of State Road 7 and exposing the hypocrisy and lies from the city of West Palm Beach. I’ve received numerous awards from Fire Rescue including two unit commendations, call of the year and my most favorite award, the Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Customer Service Appreciation award in 2018.
For years, I’ve been told by many people that I should run for the ITID board, that I am exactly the type of leader the Acreage needs. I’m running for ITID Seat 2 to serve the residents of our community. I have a strong and professional working relationship with Palm Beach County Government and will do my best to bridge any gap concerning ITID. Keeping the Acreage rural and our equestrian community thriving is something that cannot be compromised. And I WILL listen to the residents and their concerns. I will approach this position and our residents with calmness, compassion and common sense. I will work diligently with ITID staff, other board members and Palm Beach County to achieve fiscally responsible solutions that are appropriate for all of us.
As many of you have heard me state before, vehicle crashes in the Acreage are comparatively increasing in number compared to the rest of the county. And I’ve seen these horrific crashes first hand. I’ve spoken again and again about these incidents at so many packed town hall type meetings and not nearly enough has been done. However, I know how to fix the problem and this is a main goal of mine. And of course, this is just scratching the surface. I have been married to my wife Janice for 15 years, who is also a Captain with PBCFR. We have two amazing children, Axl and Brooklyn, who both attend local Acreage public schools.
Whether you are a Republican, Democrat or Independent that does not matter to me. This is a non partisan seat. When I responded to the emergency needs of our community, I treated everyone equally, compassionately, and without judgement. If you, the concerned citizen likes to be heard, I am the person who wants to hear your concerns. If you, the tax payer wants someone who is strong, professional and dependable, then I am your guy. If you are a believer in the Acreage, OUR rural way of life and you want to keep it that way then you should vote for me,
